Description
The monument consists of massive tuff blocks over oak piles. It was a tower at the harbor of the Ubian city, connected with the shore by a mole to the west.
The dating of the immense monument is undisputed since the wood of its oak foundation piles was felled in A.D. 4 or 5, as determined by dendrochronological examinations.
The Ubiermonument can be viewed by arrangement with the Römisch-Germanisches Museum.
